Custom Yacht Solutions

UNLIMITED ACCORDING TO YOUR PREFERENCES

An Explorer Catamaran, Performance Catamaran or Mega Trimaran designed individually and completely in accordance with the customer's requirements cannot, of course, be bought as a series yacht or as a "semi-custom" yacht.

However, you can plan it together with Catamaris® and its architects, create a "full-custom" design entirely according to your individual ideas and have it built at the Catamaris® shipyards in Europe, which are experienced in the construction of large multihulls.

Catamaris® designs and manufactures explorer catamarans, performance catamarans and mega yacht trimarans as a "full-custom" construction according to your ideas as unique "one-off" designs.

Our architects translate your ideas into an attractive, harmonious exterior and interior design with no limits. Using certified aluminium or high-tech composites, our shipyards in Europe build your yacht with the finest interior and exterior fittings. The result is a masterpiece of maritime craftsmanship according to your ideas.

The design and construction budget is at a comparable level to some "semi-custom" manufacturers. However, with Catamaris® there are no restrictions on the implementation of the client's ideas due to the"full-custom" construction process. Please do not hesitate to contact us.

The multihulls shown on this website are a selection of yachts already built and of new designs that can serve as inspiration for you.

Maritime Masterpieces

Exterior Design

The JEAN-JACQUES COSTE design office and the MARIMECS office have been at the forefront of the multihull market for years.

They have a high level of expertise in designing and building some of the world's largest catamarans and trimarans in carbon fibre, high-tech composite and certified aluminium.

The following design examples illustrate the different style variations.

Interior Design

The interior design is also created together with our interior designer Jean-Jacques Coste according to your personal preferences.

Contemporary or classic, functional or luxurious, entirely according to your individual ideas.

The following examples show realised interior designs and designs of different styles. They also illustrate the outstanding construction quality.

Materials & Surfaces

Materials

Our architects JEAN-JACQUES COSTE and MARIMECS place great emphasis on the selection and use of materials that meet high standards of yacht functionality and luxury. An optimal balance between performance and weight is achieved through an efficient design and construction process.

Carbon fibre (sandwich epoxy/carbon/glass/PU foam in infusion process) or aluminium (certified by Germanischer Lloyd, Bureau Veritas or Lloyd's Register) or Sealium® aluminium are used for the construction.

Interiors and design meet the latest requirements for comfort and luxury, using lightweight materials and state-of-the-art joinery and decorative materials to suit the client's design preferences.

Surfaces

The examples show some successful custom-made products and illustrate the excellent workmanship even in the smallest detail.

Technologies & Craftsmenship

In an age of impersonal, automated mass production, CATAMARIS® strives to create the finest handcrafted products using modern, computer-aided design and high-end construction techniques. The immaculate detail and finish of a CATAMARIS® yacht, inside and out, can only be achieved through skill and dedication.

Our two naval architects JEAN-JACQUES COSTE and MARIMECS use, among other tools, CAD 3D technologies for the technical and interior design plans.

The architecture and hydrodynamics of the ship are designed using Computational Fluid Dynamics (C.F.D.), tank tests and structural calculations are carried out and calculated using F.E.A. (Finite Element Analysis) to obtain the best possible structure.

In this way, the technology and systems are tightly integrated into the overall design of the ship without affecting the flow of life on board. These studies are the result of the architects' enormous experience in all aspects of design, construction and from sailing multihulls.

Catamaris® shipyards

CATAMARIS® yachts are built in Europe by our shipyards, which are recognised worldwide for their high construction quality. They are experts in the processing of high-tech composite materials and in aluminium certified by Germanischer Lloyd, Bureau Veritas or Lloyd's Register, as well as Sealium® aluminium. They meet the strictest and most demanding classification requirements.

Quality in all areas means much more than just the hulls. The finish throughout the new yacht, both inside and on the outside, exudes the utmost refinement that everyone can see, feel and admire.

The same high standards also apply to the many invisible areas and components, from the bilge pump to the fuse box and masthead. This quality is impressively demonstrated by the fulfilment of strict classification criteria, among others from ABS, BV, LRS, MCA and RINA.

Green Eco Power

Leading the way in on-board renewable energy: The field-proven "Green Eco Power" diesel-electric hybrid energy system.

After successful test years with 4 large superyachts and 15 commercial vessels, the innovative diesel-electric hybrid propulsion and energy system "Green Eco Power" is available for CATAMARIS® catamarans as an alternative to conventional diesel engine propulsion. For environmentally friendly and worldwide cruising.

The "Green Eco Power" system is designed to significantly reduce diesel fuel consumption, resulting in lower emissions of NoX (nitrogen oxides) and Co2 (carbon dioxides).
Other advantages include the system's high reliability, low noise and vibration levels, minimal maintenance intervals and worldwide access to protected areas that are only allowed for electrically powered yachts.

Other measures taken by CATAMARIS® to generate eco energy for the yacht can include:

  • Optimising the upper deck as large as possible for solar power panels.
  • Install wave generators to regenerate power while sailing.
  • Installation of wind generators. The new vertical wind generators with modern design are very efficient and silent.
  • Installation of a heat recovery system for the exhaust air of the air-condition to preheat/cool the fresh air.
  • Using lake water at the deepest point under the boat to produce cold water to cool the air in the boat.
  • Installing a larger shore connection to charge batteries and diving compressors in a shorter time.

Other measures taken by CATAMARIS® to save energy consumption are:

  • Extra efficient insulation on all exterior walls and high-quality insulated windows.
  • Avoidance of dark colours that attract a lot of heat.
  • Use of cork deck to keep deck temperatures low.
  • Low overall weight of the catamaran to keep drag low.

We are convinced that with the right eye for details and the right pursuit of all possible measures, we can create a ship that is almost completely self-sufficient and climate neutral without using fossil fuels.

A look into the future

The research and development of fossil-free energy sources is progressing rapidly. We are constantly following and monitoring some new, alternative developments and approaches in the field of CO2 neutral power generation systems and renewable energy and will inform you here from time to time about possible progress.

CONSTRUCTION DIARY 72 FT. EXPLORER CATAMARAN

A Spanish company is having a custom-made powerful 72 ft. Catmar Explorer ocean-going cruising catamaran yacht newly built by Catamaris®.

The requirement was for a modern yacht design suitable for sea exploration in the oceans and for charter with crew as well as for circumnavigation.  A modern yacht design was required that was suitable for expeditions for marine science expeditions in the oceans and for crewed charters, as well as for circumnavigation. This was successfully planned in collaboration with the architects and designers of Catamaris®, even a laboratory is included in the interior layout.

Using the example of the seaworthy new construction of this Catmar Explorer 72 Cruiser Catamaran made of certified aluminium at our shipyard in Harlingen, Holland, we report on the progress of the individual construction stages.

The construction diary is updated continuously.

2023 January - March

After the precise engineering calculations by our naval architects and designers at Marimecs, the certified aluminium raw material was ordered and then cut into hundreds of dimensionally accurate components by a specialised company and delivered to our shipyard in January. There, the construction of the hulls began. You can see very clearly that the close-fitting frames ensure that the hulls are very stable and perfect for bluewater cruises.

After completion of the hulls and deck, the structure will be turned 180 degrees and the deckhouse and flybridge will also be manufactured from certified aluminium.

At the same time, the construction of the furniture based on the modern interior design began. To this end, one of the best specialist furniture companies for superyachts in Holland first produced a 1:1 model of the aluminium structures, into which the entire interior furnishings are now gradually being manufactured and installed. The finished furniture will then be taken from the raw model and fitted precisely on board the catamaran in our shipyard.
