Catmar Explorer 71® Sail
The larger, very comfortable ocean-going explorer catamaran for worldwide blue water cruising and circumnavigation, also for expeditions to the Arctic, through the Northwest Passage and to the Antarctic.
Hulls, deck, deckhouse and the entire structure are built from certified aluminium. Safe, sturdy, reliable, robust and fast sailing!
The result is a strong, homogeneous and torsion-resistant structure without the annoying creaking noises that can occur with GRP structures or mixed forms such as hulls made of aluminium/deck and superstructure made of GRP in rough seas. Built in our shipyard in Holland.
Description
Perfect for a crew with larger space requirements. The main and genoa can also be operated "single-handed" during long transoceanic passages.
Reinforcements approx. 30 cm above and below each of the 4 waterlines from the bow to approx. 40% of the ship's length (on request also over the entire length) as well as bow reinforcements and crash boxes with watertight bulkheads provide increased protection against ice floes, containers and flotsam.
On request, the hulls of Catamaris® Explorer Yachts can be shaped below the waterline to prevent horizontal pressure on the sides when stuck in ice. The hulls then lift out of the water when lateral pressure is applied and cannot be pressed.
The CATMAR EXPLORER 71 is equipped with a flybridge and a forward cockpit.
The yacht is built in class 5083 H 321/H111 aluminium, which is certified by "Germa-nischer Lloyd, Bureau Veritas or Lloyd's Register". Strong highly effective cold foam insulation inside provides protection against heat and cold and contributes to a comfortable indoor climate. More about the advantages of aluminium.
Available with conventional diesel engines or with the innovative electric hybrid system "Green Eco Power Supply".
At 291 sqm, the Catmar Explorer 71 offers particularly large living/utility areas. Headroom in the saloon 2.10 m, in the hulls 2.05 m. CE Certification Category A with 12 persons.
Also available in a well thought out layout for wheelchair users.
Information: Since December 2022, a CATMAR EXPLORER 72 (extended 71) is under construction at our shipyard in Holland. We invite you to visit the shipyard, get to know the outstanding quality in the original.
Sustainable and eco-friendly
Catamaris® commitment to the sustainable reduction of the carbon footprint focuses in particular on the materials used.
In Catamaris® Explorer catamarans, these components can be recycled:
- Hulls and superstructure built of certified aluminium
- All components made of stainless steel (Inox)
- Engines, gearboxes, shafts, propellers, generators, water makers
- Cork for deck coverings
- Furniture construction, upholstery, safety glazing of the windows, fireproof insulation of aluminium hulls und superstructure
- Rig and sails: mast, boom, shrouds, spreaders. The new, fully recyclable „ONE“ sails certified with the ISO 14040 life cycle assessment
Thus, most of all materials applied on our Explorer catamarans can be recycled and reused in an environmentally friendly way at the end of their life.
Catamaris® also makes a significant contribution to reducing CO2 emissions during operation.
On Catamaris® catamarans, these components reduce CO2 emissions:
- Engines, gensets and equipment that meet the high EU standards in terms of CO2 emissions, for example.
- With our optional diesel-electric hybrid propulsion systems, a further significant reduction of CO2 emissions into the environment is achieved.
With a Catamaris® catamaran built in a sustainable and eco-friendly way, you make a positive contribution to reducing your CO2 footprint.
Design according to your ideas
Due to our "full-custom" construction, the design of the Catamaris Explorer 71® can be adapted to your ideas regarding length and width, the flybridge, the number and layout of the cabins, the saloon, the interior, the design of the furniture, the ceilings and walls as well as the entire technical equipment.
Alternatively, a completely new design entirely according to your requirements and ideas is also possible.
The planning and construction costs are at a comparable level to some "semi-custom" manufacturers. With Catamaris®, however, there are no restrictions on the realisation of your ideas and preferences due to the "full-custom" construction method.
Manufacturing your yacht
Under the constant supervision of Catamaris® and Marimecs, your CATMAR EXPLORER 71 is built in a shipyard in Holland with many years of experience in building multihulls.
